Pop-Soul-Dance Band Not Dead Yett!! Release Self-Titled Album

Not Dead Yett!! is an indie pop, soul, and house band formed by Grammy winner Don Mizell, undercovering as the funky front man guru, Dr. Don DJ and various cool whiz sidekick merry men. Together, they create upbeat and uplifting tracks to inspire, guide and motivate everyone to heal their wounds, change the world, and conquer their dreams.

At first enchanted by Top 40 and Soul radio, he began by singing in the church choir, then sang harmonies in a folk music group in high school. In college, he became a lead singer in a psychedelic rock band and later opened for Gil Scott-Heron with his own militant, avant garde, jazzy poetry/rap trio.

He ran his own historic, groundbreaking JazzFusion imprint at Warner/Elektra, working close creatively with world renown artists like Donald Byrd, Grover Washington, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Patrice Rushen, Lee Ritenour, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, and Terry Callier. In the early 80s, he collaborated creatively with Stevie Wonder and in the 90s, he produced and arranged several L.A. indie underground R&B, Rap, Reggae and Urban Jazz artists with his own production company. It was the year 2005 when he produced the legendary Ray Charles’ historic Album of The Year Grammy winner along with Phil Ramone.
